Urvara - Greening Mother Earth
Adhi Daiv (11S)
33% of the world's surface and 13.5% of India is desert. The loss of vegetation and biodiversity has lead to climate change, soil erosion, lower crop yield, water scarcity, etc.
'Urvara' works towards greening the deserts of Rajasthan with just 1 liter of water per tree. We plant trees by mobilising the local community, which consists of children, women, farmers, Panchayat (local government body), Aanganwadi women (women employed by the government to provide healthcare services to children), etc. This makes 'Urvara' a sustainable solution as it is an environmentally stable, socially implementable, and economically viable solution for solving the global food, water, and energy crisis.
We work towards greening schools and Gaushalas (shelter for abandoned village cattle). Our green schools provide green playgrounds for the children in the desert and our green Gaushalas help with shade and green fodder for the abandoned cattle of the village. So far, we have planted more than 2,200 trees in 12 acres of land, which has impacted the lives of more than 3,500 children directly and 20,000 people indirectly. In the process, we have also saved 7,25,000 liters of water.

Volunteer
We are looking for volunteers to help with Fundraising, advocacy and climate literacy.
We will be initiating another fundraiser in the month of May/June. We will be looking for volunteers who can help us with fundraising during this time. The required number of volunteers is 10. However, if more students are interested, we will be more than happy to have more volunteers accompany us on this journey towards "Greening Mother Earth".
All students will be given E-certificates.
Urvara is providing a green playground and environment literacy through their program in the Government schools which could be detrimental in the physical and mental growth of the children
